KFC: I went to the world’s first KFC run by deaf people in the Kuala Lumpur area! Be sure to stop by at this establishment and support local deaf workers.
Research in Melaka: I went to Melaka, also known as Malacca, with Sazali and Zu to present on my research and recruit participants. Having said that, I was able to reach six participants – all women! Most of deaf people were out and about because there were other scheduled events/meetings out of the state, and it was great to learn from these participants who were able to attend my presentation – their needs were completely different from other participants I met to date. After meeting them, I am more enthusiastic about my further research activities in other states, and especially when I analyze the data.
Central Melaka: Starting in the 16th century, Melaka faced a series of external takeovers; yet, it flourished into a charming town -- colorful tuk-tuks were decorated with roses and parked around the centre, locals selling different items (mostly souvenirs), stalls selling cold juice and light meals, Malays in traditional costumes danced to the music, and a canal snaked its way through the town. You will also find an abundance of flowers and trees while driving towards the town center and that won me over.
Right... I heard about it but never realized it was in Malaysia.... The KFC.
